Christy Knowings, Former ‘All That’ Star, Passes Away at 46 After Asthma Attack

Christy Knowings, best known for her work on Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy series All That, has died at 46 following an asthma attack that resulted in severe brain damage, according to reports from her family and manager.

Knowings was hospitalized Friday after experiencing the medical emergency and was placed on life support at a Los Angeles-area hospital. Her family ultimately made the difficult decision to remove her from life support Tuesday, and she died later that evening. Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, confirmed her passing Wednesday.

Knowings became part of the All That cast in 1997 after being discovered through And Now This, a sketch comedy project produced for Nickelodeon by Rosie O’Donnell. She joined the series alongside Leon Frierson and Danny Tamborelli and quickly became known for her comedic performances.

During her three-season run on All That, Knowings portrayed several memorable characters, including Penny Lane. She also appeared alongside Amanda Bynes in the recurring “Whateverrr!!!” sketch. The series helped launch the careers of several major entertainers, including Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Nick Cannon and Gabriel Iglesias.

Thompson, who went on to become a longtime cast member of Saturday Night Live, shared an emotional tribute following the news of Knowings’ death.

“Man this one hit hard!!!” Thompson wrote, remembering his former castmate as one of the funniest people he knew and sending love to her family.

Outside of All That, Knowings appeared on Sesame Street in three episodes alongside her real-life twin brother, Chris Knowings. She eventually stepped away from acting but continued pursuing her creative interests. In 2020, she released a folk music single titled “To the World.”

Her manager, Al Hill, described Knowings as a multi-talented performer who was passionate about singing, acting and dancing. He also remembered her as professional and deeply dedicated to her work.

Knowings’ death marks another heartbreaking loss for the All That family. She is the second former cast member from the Nickelodeon series to die in 2026, following Kianna Underwood, who was killed in a hit-and-run collision in January.

Fans and former castmates are now remembering Knowings for the humor, creativity and energy she brought to a generation of viewers.
