Drake’s ICEMAN Becomes His Longest-Running No. 1 Album on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Chart

Drake has reached another major milestone on the Billboard charts, as his latest album, ICEMAN, has become his longest-running No. 1 album on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

According to Luminate, ICEMAN has now spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on the chart dated Sept. 5, surpassing the 12 weeks Take Care spent at the top between 2011 and 2012. The album earned 41,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the Aug. 21–27 tracking period, maintaining a 10,000-unit lead over Michael Jackson’s Thriller, which sits at No. 2 with 31,000 units.

The milestone gives ICEMAN the longest No. 1 run among Drake’s 17 chart-topping albums on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. His other lengthy reigns include For All the Dogs with 11 weeks, Certified Lover Boy with 10 weeks, and both Nothing Was the Same and Scorpion with five weeks each.

ICEMAN also marks Drake’s record-tying 17th No. 1 album on the chart, placing him alongside The Temptations for the most No. 1 albums by any act in the chart’s 61-year history. Future has also reached 17 No. 1 albums.

The album’s success extends beyond the albums chart. ICEMAN produced Drake’s 31st and 32nd No. 1 entries on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with “What Did I Miss?” and “Janice STFU.” “Janice STFU” spent seven weeks at No. 1, giving it Drake’s longest run atop the songs chart since “In My Feelings” remained at No. 1 for 11 weeks in 2018.

The project is also holding strong on other Billboard charts, spending a 13th week at No. 1 on Top Rap Albums while remaining at No. 9 on the Billboard 200.

Drake’s latest accomplishment also reflects changes in how Billboard measures album performance. Since 2017, the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart has used equivalent album units, combining traditional album sales with streaming activity and track sales.
