Emmy-Nominated Composer Guy Moon Dies at 63 After Car Crash

Guy Moon, the Emmy nominated composer whose music helped define some of the most iconic animated television shows of the last three decades, has died at the age of 63 following a car crash in Los Angeles. His family confirmed his passing and shared that they are mourning the loss while honoring the legacy he leaves behind.

Moon was best known for his work on major Nickelodeon series including The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom. His energetic and memorable compositions played a major role in shaping the sound and personality of those shows, earning him four Emmy nominations for his work on The Fairly OddParents. His music became a staple of early 2000s animation and left a lasting impact on an entire generation of viewers.

In addition to his Nickelodeon success, Moon contributed music to a wide range of animated series such as T.U.F.F. Puppy, Johnny Test, Bunsen Is a Beast, Cow and Chicken, and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. His ability to blend humor, action, and emotion into his compositions made him one of the most recognizable composers in children’s television.

Born in Wisconsin in 1962, Moon moved to California in the mid 1980s to pursue a career in music. Over the course of more than 40 years, he built an extensive résumé that went beyond animation. His work also extended into film, where he contributed music to projects such as The Brady Bunch Movie, A Very Brady Sequel, Minority Report, Fight Club, and Mystic Pizza, showcasing his versatility across genres.
