Fairfield Officer Bianca Camacho Reassigned After Viral Video Shows Teen Being Struck During Arrest

A viral video showing Fairfield police Officer Bianca Camacho repeatedly striking a 16-year-old high school student during an arrest has sparked outrage across the community and renewed conversations about police use of force against Black youth.

The incident happened May 19 at Fairfield High School after officers responded to a campus fight. Video captured by bystanders and police body cameras shows sophomore Maurice Williams on the ground covering his face with his hands while Camacho — also known as Bianca Brown — repeatedly hit him as officers attempted to handcuff him.

“They said I was resisting, but the way she came in, she had no reason to do what she did,” Maurice said. “I’m just like this as she’s hitting me — like on the hands, through the hands, on my face.”

Fairfield police say Williams was aggressive and resisted arrest, leading the officer to use what the department described as “distraction strikes” to gain compliance and secure his hands. Police Chief Dan Marshall later clarified that Williams was not handcuffed during the incident.

Still, the footage has led to widespread criticism. Another video released by the family appears to show Camacho acknowledging that she punched the teen in the face during a conversation with Maurice’s stepmother.

“I punched him in the face, yes. I did,” the officer said in the recording after being questioned about the incident.

Maurice’s family says the teenager has suffered headaches and dizzy spells since the encounter. Their attorney, Ben Nisenbaum, called the video “outrageous and disgusting,” arguing that noncompliance alone does not justify excessive force.

The controversy deepened after additional footage surfaced showing Camacho pulling an 18-year-old woman from a car by her hair during a traffic stop last year. Community members and activists say the incidents point to a troubling pattern of behavior.

“She’s violent,” said community advocate Berry Accius. “She’s reckless.”

In response to the backlash, Chief Marshall announced that Camacho has been administratively reassigned while an independent investigation is conducted. City officials are also planning a community meeting as protests continue to grow outside Fairfield City Hall.

“I wonder what they would think if it happened to them or somebody they care about?” Maurice said.
