Omega Psi Phi Concludes Historic 85th Grand Conclave With Record Attendance and Millions in Economic Impact

The 85th Grand Conclave of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. has officially concluded after making history as the largest Grand Conclave ever held by the fraternity. Thousands of members, families and supporters traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio, from July 30 through Aug. 3 for a week of fellowship, leadership, community service and economic impact.

Fraternity leaders estimated that nearly 30,000 people attended the event, including more than 10,000 registered brothers and approximately 20,000 family members and guests. The historic turnout made the gathering one of the largest conventions held in Cincinnati in recent years.

Founded at Howard University in 1911, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was the first international fraternity established on the campus of a historically Black college or university. For more than a century, the organization has remained committed to its Cardinal Principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift.

Throughout the five-day conclave, members conducted the fraternity's official business while participating in a variety of educational, cultural and service-oriented events. Activities included the International Talent Hunt, STEM programming, scholarship initiatives, a golf tournament, community service projects and the fraternity's signature step show.

One of the week's highlights was the 26th International Youth Leadership Conference, which welcomed approximately 175 young men from across the country. Participants attended workshops on financial literacy, career development, leadership, civic engagement, conflict resolution and responsible social media use. Students also visited the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and the University of Cincinnati while engaging with professionals and community leaders.

The Grand Conclave also delivered a significant boost to Cincinnati's economy. Local tourism officials estimated the event generated approximately $12.9 million in economic impact, produced more than $7.1 million in direct business sales, and supported nearly 2,000 local jobs. Attendees filled 23 hotels across the Greater Cincinnati area while supporting restaurants, retailers, transportation services and other local businesses throughout the week.

Grand Basileus Ricky Lewis said the fraternity's goal extended beyond hosting a successful convention, emphasizing the importance of leaving each host city better than it was found. With record-breaking attendance, youth development initiatives and millions of dollars flowing into the local economy, the 85th Grand Conclave demonstrated Omega Psi Phi's continued commitment to leadership, service and community impact.
