Southern Durham Standout Kamari Holloway Commits to Temple University
DURHAM, N.C. — Southern Durham High School running back Kamari Holloway has announced his commitment to Temple University, giving the Owls one of North Carolina's most explosive playmakers in the Class of 2027.
The commitment comes shortly after Temple extended an offer to Holloway and hosted him for an official visit in Philadelphia. What began as a rapidly developing recruitment quickly turned into a commitment, as the standout running back chose the Owls over several other Division I programs that had shown interest in him.
Holloway originally had visits planned with Rutgers and East Carolina, both of which had recruited him throughout the process. However, after receiving Temple's offer and visiting campus, he decided to make his pledge to the Owls.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound athlete has emerged as one of the top offensive weapons in North Carolina over the past two seasons. During the 2025 season, Holloway rushed for 1,420 yards and 13 touchdowns on just 122 carries, averaging more than 11 yards per attempt. His sophomore campaign was equally impressive, as he totaled 1,081 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 86 carries.
In addition to his production in the backfield, Holloway has proven to be a versatile athlete for Southern Durham. He contributed on defense as a linebacker, recording 36 tackles and five tackles for loss during the 2025 season.
His athletic ability extends beyond the football field. Holloway is also a standout sprinter and showcased his speed during the Under Armour Camp in Charlotte earlier this year, where he recorded a 4.48-second 40-yard dash.
As his performances continued to attract attention, Holloway picked up nearly a dozen Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) scholarship offers. Programs such as Memphis, Charlotte, Delaware, Liberty, and several Sun Belt Conference schools were among those pursuing the talented running back.
Temple's coaching staff moved quickly when Holloway became available for a visit, and that decision paid off with a commitment from one of the state's fastest-rising prospects.
With Holloway now in the fold, Temple's 2027 recruiting class continues to grow as the Owls look to build for the future with talented playmakers from across the country.
