Browns Part Ways With Coach Kevin Stefanski After Six Seasons
The Cleveland Browns have officially parted ways with head coach Kevin Stefanski following the conclusion of the 2025 NFL season. The decision comes after six seasons with the organization and a disappointing 5–12 finish that capped off back to back losing years.
Stefanski exits Cleveland with an overall record of 45–56. Despite the struggles in recent seasons, his tenure included some of the most successful moments the franchise has experienced in decades. He led the Browns to two playoff appearances and helped deliver the team’s first postseason win in more than 20 years. Stefanski was also named NFL Coach of the Year twice, earning the honor in 2020 and again in 2023.
Team owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam thanked Stefanski for his leadership and commitment to the organization but made it clear that recent performance did not meet expectations. The Browns believe a new direction is necessary as they look to reestablish themselves as consistent contenders.
Offensive inconsistency played a major role in the decision. Cleveland struggled to find stability at the quarterback position over the past two seasons, cycling through multiple starters while dealing with injuries and uneven play. The lack of continuity on offense ultimately contributed to the team’s decline.
General manager Andrew Berry will remain in place and is expected to lead the search for the Browns’ next head coach. Berry and Stefanski were hired together in 2020 and helped reshape the franchise early on, but leadership now believes a new voice is needed to maximize the roster moving forward.
As the Browns enter the 2026 offseason, the organization faces key decisions surrounding its offensive identity and long term direction. With defensive talent still intact and resources available to retool, Cleveland will look to reset and position itself back into the playoff picture.
